Our History
Parchem Construction Supplies (Parchem) origins date back to 1958 when the foundations of the existing business – Expandite Rawlplug Australia was established in Sydney, Australia. Parchem Construction Supplies has bought together industry leading brands with a strong commitment to service and technical support by combining the companies formerly known as Flextool and Concrete Technologies with the strength of the former Parchem Construction Products business. The Equipment and tools division (formerly Flextool Pty Ltd) has pioneered the manufacture of portable contractor's equipment in Australia.
Key events in Parchem’s history:
1958
Creation of Expandite-Rawlplug in Ryde specialising in the manufacture of sealants and jointing products.
1980
Relocation of Expandite-Rawlplug to their new greenfield manufacturing site in Lucca Rd Wyong, NSW, Australia.
1985
Burmah Castrol (parent company of Expandite Rawlplug) acquired the Fosroc international company and renamed the new merged company, Fosroc Australia.
1996
Parbury Limited (a building products company) acquired Fosroc Australia and renamed it Parbury Technologies.
2000
Alesco Corporation Limited (previously known as Atkins Carlyle) acquired Parbury Limited.
2005
Alesco Corporation Limited acquired Concrete Technologies a company specialising in innovative decorative concrete solutions.
2006
Alesco Corporation acquired Flextool (Aust.) Pty. Ltd. a wholly owned Australian private enterprise. Established in 1951, the company has pioneered the Australian manufacture of portable tools & equipment for use in the concrete trades
2006/2007
Alesco merged Parbury Technologies, Flextool and Concrete Technologies to form Parchem Construction Supplies Pty Ltd (Parchem).
2007
Alesco purchased 4 small construction distribution businesses spread across New Zealand and established the Concrete Plus business distributing Parchem products to the New Zealand construction market.
2008
Parchem began the roll out of their nationwide network of trade stores.
2011
Parchem National Distribution Centre relocated from Auburn, Sydney to Wyong. At the same time the Concrete Technologies manufacturing relocated from Emu Plans, Sydney to Wyong.
2012
Acquisition of Alesco and subsidiary companies including Parchem by DuluxGroup Limited, a public company listed on the Australian stock exchange.
